This Week’s Words

Companies find that creating a Statement of Purpose serves as a compass for their future. As I was turning 60 *, I decided that I needed my own Statement of Purpose.

* Although not in the far, far distant past, not exactly a current event.

My Statement of Purpose
(on the Eve of my 60th Birthday)

I want my life to count.  I aspire to reach the highest level of achievement my talents will allow.  I seek to know God and, if possible, to know and do His will, as that must be the highest level of achievement.

While I seek this knowledge, I will push the limits of my creativity to bring beauty, laughter, and comfort into the world.

I decide this day to focus on what I can achieve in the days, months, or years I have left.  I put myself on notice that time is short and talents fade.

It is time.  It is time.  It is time.

  1. Very true John. I am very impressed by people in their 80s and 90s who remain active and are still not quitting or giving up (on life). I saw a lady on the news the other day running a distance race at 101 years old (or young).
